LGJ has announced a new schedule for the 2026–2027 school year aimed at improving student support, consistency, and enrichment opportunities. The updated plan includes earlier breakfast access, structured class times, a modified Friday schedule, and expanded ASPIRA after-school programming to support both academic success and personal growth.

LGJ ha anunciado un nuevo horario para el año escolar 2026–2027 con el objetivo de mejorar el apoyo académico, la consistencia y las oportunidades de enriquecimiento para los estudiantes. El nuevo plan incluye acceso temprano al desayuno, horarios de clases estructurados, un horario modificado los viernes y la expansión del programa extracurricular ASPIRA para apoyar el desarrollo académico y personal.

LGJ’s Fall Sports Eligibility guidelines outline the academic and attendance requirements students must meet to participate in athletics. Students must maintain strong grades, earn required credits, and have at least 90% attendance. Those who meet these expectations will be eligible to join teams such as soccer, volleyball, cross country, and bowling, reinforcing LGJ’s message that success in sports starts with success in the classroom.

LGJ is preparing for the Fall Sports season starting August 17th and is encouraging students to join athletic teams. The program highlights the benefits of sports, including teamwork, leadership, and academic success, while reminding students to complete required PSAL forms to participate.

The LGJ Judicial Internship Celebration honored students who successfully completed a 10-month internship within the court system. With distinguished guests including judges, court staff, and Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, the event recognized students for their dedication and growth. Led in part by Justice Marsha Michael and Justice Llinet Rosado, the program continues to provide valuable real-world experience and prepare students for future careers in law and public service.

LGJ’s Career Day held on May 29, 2026 was a successful and inspiring event that welcomed alumni back to share their experiences and guide current students. Through panels, Q&A sessions, and interactive discussions, students explored career paths, gained real-world advice, and learned how their education at LGJ can shape their futures.

The LGJ Annual Sports Awards Ceremony celebrated a historic year for student-athletes, highlighting standout performances, PSAL recognitions, and record-breaking achievements. Led by Athletic Director Mr. Nagel, the event honored MVPs, Most Improved players, and graduating seniors, with Jody F. and Melianys B. named Athletes of the Year and Jayden G. recognized as Scholar Athlete of the Year. The ceremony reflected the hard work, growth, and excellence of LGJ athletics.

The Bronx School for Law, Government and Justice hosted its NAACP Induction Ceremony on May 29, celebrating new members, honoring seniors, and installing new leadership. Guided by advisors Mr. Nelson, Mrs. Peterson, and Mrs. Phalo-Davis, the event marked a full-circle moment as Deon S. stepped into the role of president, continuing the legacy started by his brother, the chapter’s founding president. With a new executive team and dedicated members, the chapter looks forward to another year of leadership, service, and advocacy.

The LGJ community is celebrating seniors Brianna R. and Leana B. for earning acceptance into the Fashion Institute of Technology, a major accomplishment achieved through their hard work, talent, and dedication. During an interview with Assembly Member Chantel Jackson on Beyond The Sports, a heartfelt moment unfolded when Leana became emotional after hearing FIT mentioned. After Leana shared her aspirations, Assembly Member Jackson immediately offered to write her a recommendation letter, adding meaningful support to the effort Leana had already put in. This touching exchange, paired with both students’ commitment and preparation, helped pave the way for their acceptance into one of the nation’s top fashion institutions.

LGJ students enjoyed an unforgettable Broadway experience at the production of PROOF, a show that beautifully blended theater, math, and psychology. Students made real academic connections during the performance, impressed nearby audience members with their engagement, and represented LGJ with pride. After the show, they met the cast, took selfies with Tony Award–winner Kara Young, and one student even received a personal congratulations from Don Cheadle during her very first theater experience. The night highlighted the power of saying YES to opportunities that broaden students’ horizons and create lasting memories.

The Jaguars Varsity Softball Team opened the playoffs with a dominant 18–2 victory over Information Tech High School. Nicholle M shined in only her second pitching appearance of the season, throwing a complete game and allowing just two runs while continuing to excel academically as she prepares to graduate early. Melianys B delivered a historic offensive performance with two doubles and a record‑breaking home run, becoming the first Jaguar to hit six home runs in a single season. Aniyah B added to the momentum with a strong two‑hit game, including the walk‑off hit that sealed the win. The Jaguars now advance in the playoffs with confidence and momentum.
