LGJ athletics is experiencing one of its strongest seasons ever, with standout performances across multiple sports and several athletes breaking school and city records. From volleyball to basketball to softball, our Jaguars are raising the bar and rewriting the record books.

Six Bronx LGJ seniors have been awarded full scholarships through the highly selective The Macaulay Honors College at the City University of New York (CUNY), an unprecedented achievement in the school’s history. Their success reflects exceptional academic talent, dedication, and the strength of LGJ’s college readiness culture.

The Bronx School for Law, Government, and Justice is hosting two spring events for incoming families: the 9th Grade Student & Family Orientation on April 22 and the 6th Grade Open House on May 4, both from 4:30–6:00 PM (doors open at 4:15 PM). Families will learn about LGJ’s programs, community, and expectations, with uniforms available for purchase in cash only. The events will be held at 244 E. 163rd Street, Bronx, NY 10451. All attendees must RSVP in advance to participate.

The LGJ Jaguars softball team is off to a historic 5–0 start, led by Coach Connolly—LGJ’s history teacher and varsity basketball coach, who previously guided the basketball team to an undefeated season. Pitcher Kaylee J has been dominant with a 4–0 record, while power hitters Melianys B and Diamond B are in a record‑setting home‑run race, drawing comparisons to Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire. Melianys also leads the entire city with 24 RBIs in just five games. With two wins in their next three games, the Jaguars could clinch a playoff spot by Thursday. Their biggest matchup of the season will be Friday the 24th against rival South Bronx.

9th grade admissions are now closed due to full enrollment and a long waiting list. A limited number of seats remain available for incoming 6th grade students, and families are encouraged to apply soon. Visitors can contact the school with any questions about the application process.
