Youth Action 50 Program Gives Students a Voice in Law, Advocacy, and Community Change

Students interested in juvenile justice, family law, mental health, and community engagement are encouraged to explore the 2026–2027 Youth Action 50 Program, an exciting opportunity offered through the NYC Law Department's Family Court Division.

Youth Action 50 is designed to empower New York City students by introducing them to the work of legal professionals while helping them develop advocacy, leadership, and community engagement skills. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the legal system, explore careers in law and public service, and learn how they can make a positive impact in their communities.

Through the program, students will have the opportunity to learn directly from professionals working within the NYC Law Department's Family Court Division and engage in discussions surrounding important topics such as:

  • Juvenile Justice
  • Family Law
  • Mental Health
  • Community Outreach and Engagement

One of the most exciting aspects of the program is the opportunity for participants to receive a $1,000 grant to support a community action project. Students will be encouraged to identify issues affecting their communities and develop solutions that create meaningful change.

Youth Action 50 is an excellent opportunity for students who are passionate about advocacy, public service, law, policy, and social justice. The program provides valuable exposure to career pathways while empowering students to become active leaders in their communities.
