Sports Media
LGJ Sports Media
LGJ Sports Media is a dynamic, student‑driven program that gives young creators the opportunity to experience real sports broadcasting, journalism, and production. What began with a single student has grown—thanks to grant support—into a thriving team of nearly 20 students who take on professional‑level media roles across our school community.
Students in LGJ Sports Media learn the full spectrum of sports production, including:
- Live game broadcasting, featuring student‑run pregame shows, in‑game commentary, sideline reporting, postgame interviews, overlay graphics, scoreboard operations, and video editing.
- Studio‑based interviews with athletes, coaches, alumni, and school staff.
- Professional‑style journalism, including interviews with public figures such as Assemblywoman Chantel Jackson, former Chancellor David C. Banks, and Urban Assembly CEO David Adams.
- Photography and multimedia storytelling that capture the energy of LGJ athletics and school events.
Through hands‑on experience, students build technical skills, confidence, and a strong media portfolio. The program also serves as a bridge between high school and collegiate sports media, giving students opportunities to collaborate with college programs and experience media coverage at the next level.
LGJ Sports Media empowers students to become creators, storytellers, and leaders—both on and off the field.
