Over the past two years, LGJ Sports Media has grown into a powerful platform for student storytelling. Our team has covered athletics, school culture, student achievements, and community issues with passion and professionalism. In that time, our student journalists have also sat down with notable leaders such as former Chancellor David C. Banks, Urban Assembly CEO David Adams, Superintendent Fred Walsh, and Assembly Member Chantel Jackson, interviews that have strengthened our mission and elevated student voice. This final interview of the year represents the next step in that journey.
Mayor Mamdani has been a prominent voice in New York City conversations, and many LGJ students have expressed interest in learning more about his work, his experiences, and his perspective on issues that affect young people across the city. Securing this interview would allow our students to add to their real‑world journalism experience before going to college, ask meaningful questions, and produce a piece of media that reflects the depth and ambition of our program.
But to make this happen, we need the support of the entire LGJ community.
We are asking students, staff, alumni, families, and supporters to join our outreach effort by engaging with our latest post on the LGJ Sports Media Instagram page. Your participation can help amplify our request and show that our school stands behind its student journalists.

This is more than just an interview, it’s an opportunity for LGJ students to showcase their talent, their professionalism, and their commitment to meaningful storytelling. It’s a chance for our school to highlight the power of youth voice and the importance of student‑led media.
LGJ Sports Media has had an incredible year, and this final project would be the perfect way to close it out. With your help, we can make it happen.
Let’s show what the LGJ community can do when we come together.
