Music
Music at LGJ
Music classes at LGJ offer students a vibrant blend of cultural exploration, musical history, and hands‑on performance. Through drumming and percussion traditions from around the world, students experience how different cultures express identity and community through rhythm. They also learn to play the ukulele and are encouraged to join performance groups for school events, including our annual Culture Day.
Throughout the year, classes highlight influential artists, musical styles, and cultural contributions during celebrations such as Hispanic Heritage Month, Native American Heritage Month, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and AAPI Heritage Month. These explorations help students see music not just as entertainment, but as a powerful reflection of heritage, storytelling, and global history.
At LGJ, students are inspired to view music as a universal language—one that deepens their understanding of the world and their place within it.
