The Jaguars Varsity Softball Team opened their playoff run with a commanding 18–2 win over Information Tech High School, delivering one of their most complete performances of the season. From pitching to power hitting, the Jaguars showed exactly why they are one of the most dangerous teams in the postseason.
At the heart of the victory was junior standout Nicholle M, who delivered a remarkable performance in only her second pitching appearance of the year. Nicholle threw a complete game, allowing just two runs while demonstrating leadership, composure, and confidence in every inning. Her impact extends beyond the diamond as well, Nichole is set to graduate early, proving she is excelling both academically and athletically. She continues to embody what it means to be a Jaguar student‑athlete.
The offense was equally explosive, and no moment was bigger than the one delivered by Melianys B. After already collecting two doubles, Melianys launched a towering home run to straightaway center field, driving in the team’s 17th run of the game. It was the first fence‑clearing home run of the season for the Jaguars, and it came at the perfect time. With that swing, Melianys officially broke the LGJ single‑season home run record, becoming the first Jaguar to hit six home runs in one year. Her name is now cemented in the LGJ record books.
Another key contributor was Aniyah B, who delivered an impressive two‑hit performance, including the walk‑off hit that sealed the 18–2 victory. Her energy, consistency, and clutch hitting added another spark to an already electric Jaguars offense. Performances like hers show just how deep and talented this roster truly is.
