Mission Statement for Club (what the club is about and it's purpose):
The purpose of the Sociedad Hispánica de Amistad is to recognize high achievement in Spanish courses at the middle school level. The Sociedad Hispánica de Amistad is a nationally recognized honor society for students who excel in the study of Spanish. As “Los Campeones” chapter, we want to promote Spanish as a language and culture in LGJ Middle School and the community through Community Service and Celebration.
Academic requirements:
- Must be an 8th grade student
- Must have a Spanish grade of 90 or above
- Must have 80 average in all subject classes (NO EXCEPTIONS)
Language Performance:
- Exhibit a sincere interest and enthusiasm for the language
- Take risks in communication inside and outside the language classroom
Cultural Awareness:
- Display a sincere appreciation for culture(s)
- Are open minded and accepting of cultural differences
- Show interest and concern for what is happening in the world
- Make an effort to be part of activities and events in the community that involve other languages and cultures
Personal Qualities:
- Represents the high standards of the LGJ’s 7 Habits of Work and Learning.
- Strives to do their best in Spanish classes
