Mission and Beliefs

The mission of the School Counseling program at The Bronx School for Law, Government and Justice is to provide a high quality education for each student in a safe and nurturing learning environment. We are dedicated to preparing students for academic, career, personal and social success and seek to help students overcome any barriers that may impede their success. Our school counselors advocate for all students by delivering a school counseling program that helps students become successful leaders, responsible citizens and productive members of society.

The School Counseling program at The Bronx School for Law, Government and Justice believes in promoting academic excellence for all children. We are committed to higher academic standards, social justice, closing achievement gaps, and making a difference in the lives of urban school children.  All students have a right to a school counseling program which supports achievement, emphasizes high expectations and supports the quest for individual excellence. Through a data-driven school counseling program,  we identify student-developmental needs and provide programs that address these needs and that close student achievement gaps, opportunity gaps, attainment gaps and funding gaps. We utilize the National Standards for School Counseling Programs to ensure that each student’s academic, career and personal/social needs are met.
